Has winger Chris Eagles flown Vale Park for good?
Reports suggest that free agent Chris Eagles has travelled to Scotland for a trial with Ross County.
Eagles impressed during a brief spell last season but turned down Vale’s contract offer in the summer in the hope of a move elsewhere.
When that moved failed to transpire the free agent returned to trainign with the club and manager Neil Aspin expressed an interest in signing the experienced wideman.
However, reports on Tuesday suggest that Scottish Premiership side Ross County, managed by Eagles’ former Bolton boss Owen Coyle, have offered the 31 year-old a trial.
Aspin had indicated that if Eagles did not accept Vale’s offer by midweek then their interest would be at an end.
If today’s news is true then it would appear that the chances of Eagles agreeing a Vale deal are all but dead.
