Where are they now: Paulo Tavares
The experienced midfielder has now returned home after his spell at Vale Park…
Prior to Vale
Paulo was born in Massarelos and began his career in Dennhora da Hora making his debut on the Segunda Liga. In 2008 he reached the Portuguese top flight with spells at Leixoes and Vitoria Setubal. He made over a hundred appearances in the Primeira Liga.
His Vale spell
Tavares was snapped up by manager Bruno Ribeiro on a two-year deal. He made his debut against Bradford City but fell out of the picture under Michael Brown and barely featured in the second-half of the season. He agreed an early termination of his two-year deal in the summer.
Post Vale
Following his departure from Vale Park, Tavares returned to Portugal and on the 12th August he signed up with Cova da Piedade who have just won promotion to LigaPro (the second division in Portugal). Things seem to be going well for Paulo with the veteran playing ten of the side’s fifteen league games so far this season.
