Port Vale reserves give manager food for thought
Players in the Port Vale reserve team did their chances of a first-team place no harm with a 2-0 win away at Rotherham on Tuesday.
The goals came from centre-halves Joe Davis and Tom Anderson who could be pushing for recalls after Vale’s defensive lapses against Grimsby Town on Saturday. Both players did their chances no harm by adding a cleansheet in addition to their goalscoring contributions.
Meanwhile, Dan Turner played upfront and Cristian Montano marked his return from injury by playing the final thirty minutes.
Manager Neil Aspin watched the game and will no doubt consider whether some of the performances merit making changes for the game against Cheltenham at the weekend.
Vale: Hornby, Wilson, Davis, Anderson, Yates, Stobbs, Middleton, Reeves, De Freitas, Turner, Pyke (Montano 60)
