Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has said that he hopes to agree a new contract with James Gibbons and make the youngster his first “Vale signing” since joining the club.
19 year-old Gibbons has impressed at right-back since Aspin joined the club and the new manager is keen to tie the youth-team graduate to a new long-term deal.
Gibbons currently has a one-year deal with the club and the Port Vale boss will look into extending that.
Aspin told a Supporters Club meeting: “He is a player that I rate very highly and we have been in discussions this week. I haven’t signed a player yet but I would like him to be my first signing. We would like to extend his contract and I am confident that will be done.”
