Yeovil 1-1 Port Vale reaction: 3-5-2 worked well for Vale say fans
Port Vale supporters have praise for tactics and performance after the point at Yeovil…
Players and management
“I’m gutted for the lads. I thought we were excellent and played some really good stuff. Frustrating is the overriding word really…”
Vale caretaker David Kelly
“It’s another point and we have a good home record but we want more, and so do the supporters. We knew Port Vale would come and give it everything as you always expect a reaction when a team has changed manager but overall we should have won…”
Yeovil manager Darren Way

“Much better. The first time this season we have looked like we have worked on something in training. Three centre backs and wing backs bombing on. I thought it suited us. One goalkeeping howler has cost us the points. Denton was great down the left until he went off injured. Morgan and Kelly have had a lot of stick and plenty off me but credit where it’s due, that was much better and more organised today than anything I’ve seen this season…”

“In our current situation I am delighted with a point. I hope this is the start of some improvement in results and performances…”

“Very disappointing result but one that I would have taken at kick-off. The disappointment is a good sign, because we obviously played well, which is very different. A dreadful mistake has cost us. It was good to see Pope on the score sheet. I like the 3-5-2 formation. It utilises the players we have well and means two up front with a well stocked midfield. It also means Kayecan mop up and be a second centre-half…”

“Good tactics and Pope scored! Well done Tom Pope I did say if we played the system for Pope then he should score…”

“A point is better than a defeat. Unfortunate to lose both wing backs and in turn the balance of the team. One error has cost us but the signs of improvement are there. Not happy but not gutted either onwards and upwards…”
