Injury blow for Port Vale defender Kjell Knops
Port Vale defender Kjell Knops has reportedly suffered a blow in his bid to recover from a knee injury.
The Sentinel reports that Knops suffered an infection after knee surgery and has had to spend an extra three weeks in hospital.
The Dutch defender suffered the injury in April and is estimated to be out of action for nine months.
Manager Michael Brown told the newspaper: “Kjell has had an infection in his knee and been in hospital for three weeks. He is having no luck at all.
“The quote I was given is that only five people out of every 4,000 have this infection so he is very unlucky. He has been in hospital for three weeks. He is a great professional and this has been a bad set-back for him.”
