Brown backing new winger to feed the Pope…

Port Vale manager Michael Brown has told the Sentinel that new signing Cristian “Monty” Montano will provide the right service for forward Tom Pope.

Brown told the newspaper: “We will be looking forward to having ‘Monty’ down the left side, or coming in from the right. We will see where we feel his best position is but he should be a good addition.

“He wants to cross the ball and get into good positions. He is a left sider which we were looking for and I think he still feels like he has something to prove in his career. He seems hungry which is good. We are going to work with him and on how we want him to play.

“He was in and out last year at Bristol Rovers. He played one, was left out for one, but still played his fair share. Hopefully he will be an exciting player for us. We have someone who has to put the ball in the box – to feed the Pope!”
