Sam Foley leaves Port Vale to join Northampton Town
Sam Foley leaves Port Vale: the Valiants have announced that midfielder Sam Foley has turned down a contract offer and has joined League One side Northampton Town.
Foley began his career with Cheltenham Town and had spells with Newport County, Yeovil Town and a loan move to Shrewsbury Town before deciding to join Port Vale.
The midfielder was brought to the club in the summer of 2015 by former manager Rob Page and soon established himself in the Vale midfield engineroom. Foley was described as “outstanding” by Page as he scored six goals in 50 appearances during his first season at the club. He was also a regular pick under Page’s successor as manager, Bruno Ribeiro, although his second season at the club was hit by injuries as he managed 33 appearances. In total, he played 83 times for the club.

We can confirm that Sam Foley will join Northampton Town when his contract expires on the 30th of June 2017.
The midfielder was offered a new deal at Vale Park, but he has accepted an offer from the Cobblers to join for the start of the 2017/18 season.
Sam made 83 appearances for Port Vale during his two year stint in Burslem, scoring seven goals.
Foley was brought to the club by Rob Page back in the summer of 2015 and became a key player for Vale.
