Michael Brown praises team after Wimbledon win
Michael Brown said his team put on a “great performance” as they defeated AFC Wimbledon 2-0 on Saturday.
The win lifted Vale out of the relegation zone and Brown told the media: “It was a great performance from us. I thought the players showed fantastic desire and willingness to do well and work hard.
I think it was well appreciated by the fans yet again. They were pulling in the right direction, they were very vocal and it was good to see…
“We knew we had to match Wimbledon’s endeavour that they have had every single week this season. That is why they have got to where they are.
“So, it was important we had to match that and I thought we certainly did in the first half and then we went on and had a comfortable win in the end.
“However we got it, that win was the most important thing. Yes, it is great to have a clean sheet, we can build on that. But we are at the stage where need to get points on the board and we certainly have done today with a good performance.
“I think it was well appreciated by the fans yet again. They were pulling in the right direction, they were very vocal and it was good to see.”
