Northampton fans: Edinburgh has steadied the ship
Three Northampton fans from the hotelend.co.uk forum are happy with how manager Justin Edinburgh has improved their form.
Thanks to REP for posing the questions
About the fans…
barton cobbler – I’ve been following the Cobblers for 56 years.
WadeyCobbler – My name is Lee Wade and I have been following the Cobblers for 30 years. I write a column in the fanzine Hotelenders.
Ntfcgavin – I have been a supporter for twenty years, and a season ticket holder for thirteen.
About the opposition…
How are your team doing?
barton cobbler – We expected a good year following us walking League Two but Rob Page put paid to that. We are currently a bit hit and miss but we should have enough to finish clear of trouble.
WadeyCobbler – We are inconsistent, but vastly improved under Edinburgh. Optimism was high following last season’s League Two triumph but too many of the great players left. Rob Page then alienated the rest and the spirit was lost. We have regained that somewhat and will survive.
Ntfcgavin – We started well and were fourth at one stage but after Page lost the dressing room we slipped down the table much like yourselves. Justin Edinburgh has steadied the ship though and we should stay up.
The players to watch?
barton cobbler – Matt Taylor if we get a free kick within 30 yards.
WadeyCobbler – John-Joe O’Toole. He’s on fire at the moment with the knack of being in the right place at the right time.
Ntfcgavin – After a shaky start to the season John-Joe O’Toole has found his form from last season at a decent time.

A guide for Vale fans…
Any views on the Port Vale team?
barton cobbler – JJ Hooper was not very good for us.
WadeyCobbler – JJ Hooper isn’t very good. You are struggling. The games in hand could be crucial.
Ntfcgavin – You have some big name players so I would say you are under achieving, Also JJ Hooper is terrible!
OVF Editor Note: perhaps JJ Hooper may want to react to those comments on Tuesday night?
Any quirky facts?
barton cobbler – Des O’Connor played for our reserves back in the 50’s.
WadeyCobbler – Phil Neal played in goal on his last appearance for the club before his big move to Liverpool.
Ntfcgavin – Walter Tull one of the first black footballers played for us.
Any recommendations for away-friendly pubs, parking and eateries?
barton cobbler – TGI Fridays opposite the ground is the away pub.
WadeyCobbler – The southern end car park is £3. Carr’s Bar at the ground is usually OK for away fans. A decent guest ale is usually on.
Ntfcgavin – Duston Mill field has parking for £3, just dont get stuck in the mud! TGI Fridays is usually the away pub but Carr’s Bar at the ground allows away fans in aswell.
