First choice Mehmet targets more clean sheets
Port Vale goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet is keen to build on his first clean sheet for the Vale first-team.
Mehmet helped the Valiants to a 0-0 draw against Milton Keynes and although the failure to beat their opponents was disappointing, the 24 year-old was encouraged by the shut-out.
Mehmet told the Sentinel: “It was a scrappy game to be honest, but against a good footballing side, we are happy to take a point at the end of it really. As we have all said in the changing room, it is important to bounce back after a loss so I think we all showed a bit of character.
“Any point is a point gained win or draw, we have a game in hand as well which we need to capitalise on and get a run going as best we can.”
“It is important that we can stay tight in defence and look to capitalise on that. Hopefully we can get a few more clean sheets to the end of the season.”
