Jerome Thomas set to boost Valiants
Michael Brown’s inexperienced Port Vale team is set to be boosted by the return of veteran winger Jerome Thomas.
Thomas, one of relatively few successful transfers during the summer missed the home defeat to Peterborough United through illness.
But the 33 year-old, who has arguably been one of Vale’s players of the season so far, is set to take his place in the squad for the game against Gillingham.
Thomas’ return will be a boost for Brown who said his side were “a bit naive” during the home loss to Posh. There were three debutants for the Valiants on Saturday including a first senior appearance for keeper Leo Fasan. Meanwhile, midfielder Callum Guy has made just three senior appearances, Onimode Shodipo was making his twelfth senior appearance while defenders Nathan Smith and Remie Streete are in their first season as central defensive regulars.
