Smurthwaite: Rangers terms for Alnwick transfer are not acceptable
Confusion surrounds Jak Alnwick’s potential move to Glasgow Rangers after Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite told the media that the terms of the transfer were “unacceptable.”
On Friday, it was reported that Rangers had triggered Alnwick’s release clause with a £250,000 bid. The Scottish club apparently want Alnwick to replace Matt Gilks who is set to leave Ibrox.
However, reacting to the news Smurthwaite told STV “We received a bid for the player but the terms were not acceptable.”
According to reports elsewhere the problem lies in Rangers wanting to pay the transfer money in installments.
