Sam Johnson signs for FC Halifax Town on loan
Just 24 hours after his season-long loan at Gateshead was cancelled by mutual consent, Port Vale goalkeeper Sam Johnson has signed for FC Halifax Town for the rest of the season.
Johnson is out of contract in the summer and is now unlikely to play for the Valiants again. He enjoyed a personally successful spell with Halifax last season even though it ended in the club being relegated.
A statement on the Halifax website said:
FC Halifax Town have signed 24 year old goalkeeper Sam Johnson on loan from Port Vale until the end of the season.
Johnson was on loan at the Shaymen last season and his final game for the Club was against Grimsby Town at Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy final in May.
He will be in the squad for today’s game, Steven Drench will miss out due to a hamstring injury.
We welcome Sam back and wish him well for the rest of the season.
