Forrester scores twice as trialist Chris Eagles impresses
A Port Vale reserves side which featured two trialists swept aside Bradford City 4-0 thanks to two goals from returning striker Anton Forrester.
Forrester made his first-team return in the FA Cup defeat to Huddersfield but boosted his chances of a longer run-out with his two goals for the reserves. Forrester was joined on the scoresheet by JJ Hooper who has returned from a loan spell at Northampton Town and who is also in contention for a forward place.
Vale’s fourth goal came from Nathan Ferguson and was the only one not to have been set-up by trialist Chris Eagles. The veteran winger, who was released by Accrington, set up the first three goals and must have done his chances of a contract no harm at all.
Vale also included a second trialist – striker Tom Hitchcock – who was named on the bench.
