Goalkeeper Jak Alwnick is set to return for Vale’s visit to Scunthorpe United after caretaker manager Michael Brown said he was “desperately close” to playing against Bury.
Alnwick was injured during Vale’s FA Cup exit to Huddersfield and was replaced by Miguel Santos during that game.
Youngster Ryan Boot made his senior debut in Alnwick’s absence and Brown told the Sentinel: “It was extremely close. Very close.
“He has had a bit more treatment again, another injection, so hopefully he will be pushing for next week.”
