Midfielder Nathan Ferguson has returned to Port Vale after Southport confirmed that his loan spell had ended.
Ferguson was signed in the summer on a one-year contract with an option for a further year. He was loaned out to National League side Southport in October for an initial month’s loan.
The deal was extended into a second month with Ferguson making a total of five starts plus one substitute appearance.
However, the 20 year-old will not be eligible for a place in Vale’s FA Cup squad for the game against Huddersfield Town as (like fellow loanee Dan Turner) he played in the cup during his loan spell and is now cup-tied.
