Michael Brown: we want Alex Jones at this football club
Port Vale assistant manager Michael Brown says the club are determined to sign forward Alex Jones despite managerial changes at Birmingham City.
Jones is on loan from Birmingham and negotiations had been ongoing with Gary Rowett before his surprise sacking as manager this week.
However, Brown says the club still want to sign the forward either on loan or a permanent basis. He told the Sentinel: “We had talked to Gary quite a bit. This could help or hinder, we don’t know at the moment what their views are going to be on it. But we want Alex at the football club and we will deal with whoever that lands on now.
“Gary was trying to get the best deal for his football club, he accepted this was a good home for Alex and we were just seeing how we could have extended that for him to be with us. We will just have to wait and see.”
