Michael Brown: Vale working very hard to secure Alex Jones deal
Port Vale assistant manager Michael Brown says the club have spoken to Birmingham manager Gary Rowett several times about a deal for Alex Jones.
The Valiants are keen to sign the ten-goal loanee on a permanent deal or extend his loan deal. Earlier this season, Rowett appeared to indicate that the club were prepared to let Jones leave but Brown says that negotiations are continuing.
He thoroughly enjoys it here, he understands what the football club have done for him, and what he’s done for us…
Brown told the Birmingham Mail: “I’ve spoken to Gary several times. He’s doing his job for his football club and trying to get the best possible deal for his player. And we’ll just have to see where we go with that but we are working very hard to keep him here.”
The Vale assistant added that forward Jones appreciates the chance he was given by the Valiants adding: “He thoroughly enjoys it here, he understands what the football club have done for him, and what he’s done for us.
“We should not forget he’s scored some very important goals and done very well. He had to make sacrifices to come here and he’s got his rewards.”
Vale fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that a deal can be agreed.
