Purkiss could return but Forrester and Jones may not be risked
Port Vale assistant manager Michael Brown says that the Stevenage game may come too early for Vale to risk strikers Anton Forrester and Alex Jones.
Vale are short of forwards for the game but Brown doesn’t think the club should risk further injury by playing Forrester and Jones. Earlier in the season, Forrester was injured after coming back from injury and had to be replaced during the Coventry game.
Alex is progressing nicely he’s still got some problems with his knee but we might have him in the build up tomorrow…
However, Brown says that joint captain Ben Purkiss, who amid rumours of a falling out, has a shoulder injury, could make the game.
The Vale assistant-manager told the media: “Alex is progressing nicely he’s still got some problems with his knee but we might have him in the build up tomorrow.
“Purks has more chance than Anton. I think it would be slightly dangerous to consider Anton at this stage, we have to give him that extra bit more training than normal because of the re-occurrence last time. So we will see how he is over next week and maybe that might be too early but let’s see how we go.”
