Banned Anthony Grant appears to have escaped further punishment
Key Port Vale midfielder Anthony Grant appears to have been given a one-match ban for his red card in the win over Fleetwood.
The FA confirmed that Grant will be suspended for the visit to Charlton Athletic. Grant received a second yellow card rather than a straight red which explains why Fleetwood’s Chris Long, who received a straight red card for violent conduct, receives a harsher three match ban.
The news will be a relief to Vale fans who were concerned that Grant may receive a longer ban. The midfielder apparently showed dissent when he walked off with the ball under his arm when dismissed and then returned to the field of play after the final whistle to argue with the referee.
Pundits on BBC Radio Stoke and several fans were concerned that these actions could lead to a longer suspension but it appears that no report was submitted and instead Grant will receive just the one match ban.
