Andy Smith slams slow starting Port Vale
Port Vale first-team coach Andy Smith slams the “terrible start” to the away loss at Bolton Wanderers.
Vale conceded three times in the opening fifteen minutes as they lost 3-1.
The first-half was a terrible start to the game. We gave them two goals if I am being quite honest…
Afterwards Smith told the media: “The first-half was a terrible start to the game. We gave them two goals if I am being quite honest. It was sloppy and lethargic. There was no enthusiasm, no energy and I am very upset.
“You need to stand up and be counted. The second-half was a lot better; maybe they took their foot off the gas but you can’t come here and start games against opposition like this because they will do what they did to us – they will punish you.
“If you give balls away, simple sloppy balls, schoolboy stuff. They know it themselves. We will have to correct it as soon as possible.”
