Thomas confirms injury and is set to miss Swindon game
Jerome Thomas has tweeted to confirm he was playing with a “grade one groin strain” and is now likely to miss Vale’s trip to Swindon Town.
Thomas appeared to have individual warm-up routines before the last two home games – and these tweets confirm that the player has been suffering from injuries. The player included the hashtag #illbebacknextweek which seems to suggest he will miss Saturday’s match.
Thomas’ injury would leave Vale short of numbers on the left flank with Kjell Knops also coming off injured during the Rochdale game. Anthony Defreitas would be the obvious replacement for Thomas but he may be required (as he was on Tuesday) as a stand-in left-back instead. If Defreitas is required in the defence then other options would be to play Sam Foley on the left or bring impressive sub Alex Jones into the starting line-up.
