Port Vale transfer deal off as Valiants target proven goalscorer?
Media officer Dave Johnson says one of Vale’s potential new signings could be off as the Vale owner says he is targeting a proven goalscorer.
The Valiants were widely expected to announce the signings of goalkeeper Miguel Santos and forward Jamar Loza this week and assistant manager Michael Brown told the Sentinel newspaper: “They are pretty much done.”
However, it now appears that at least one of the signings may not occur as Vale media officer Dave Johnson tweeted:
It could be that Vale have switched their sights to target an experienced goalscorer. The Valiants have impressed but looked short of goals in pre-season – particularly in the 3-0 defeat to Sheff Wed on Sunday.
Referring to that game, chairman Norman Smurthwaite tweeted:
We still need a proven league goal scorer so the search goes on.We will get there that is my mission and we will play like SW this season
