Port Vale have officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Miguel Santos on a two-year contract – subject to International clearance.
The protracted move was finally confirmed half-an-hour before the transfer window closed.
A press release stated:
We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Miguel Santos on a two year deal, subject to international clearance.
The goalkeeper has been with the club since the end of July and took part in the pre-season friendly against Sheffield Wednesday.
Santos was number one for Benfica B last season, keeping several clean sheets and catching the eye.
The 21 year-old joined Benfica when he was just eight years old in the youth system.
He also had youth spells with SC Lourel, Belenenses and Estoril, before returning to Benfica.
Santos will now be available for selection, having been training with the first team for over five weeks.
We must stress that this deal is subject to international clearance, but everything has been agreed between both parties.
