It’s been a summer of dramatic change on the pitch for the Valiants, can the club upset the odds and come good?
It’s certainly been an off season to remember for fans of Port Vale. The departure of manager Rob Page, the appointment of Bruno Ribeiro, the departure of over half-a-dozen senior players and the signing of 13 newcomers has made it one of the more dramatic pre-seasons in recent memory.
However, the bookmakers appear to not be as impressed as some fans with the Vale’s multiple changes. A look through the odds for League One next season will usually show the Valiants lurking towards the bottom of the list of teams tipped for promotion.
But could Vale upset the odds? Fans who have attended pre-season friendlies have been pretty impressed with the style of play on offer and players such as Anthony Defreitas have been praised. The only thing clearly missing from Vale’s friendly campaign is goals,
However, if the Valiants could add goals (and in JJ Hooper and Anton Forrester there is some raw talent that could potentially terrorise League One defences) then there is a chance that Vale could upset some bookmakers. The defence has looked solid all pre-season, including holding Championship side Wolves to a goalless draw and Vale appear well-stocked in midfield.
So, if the attack clicks and starts to fire it may even be worth a cheeky gamble using the coral android app on Vale upsetting the odds and sneaking into the play-offs.
