Norman Smurthwaite responds to Grant and Foley rumours
Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has said he will issue a statement “if appropriate” after he was questioned on Twitter about the rumoured departures of Anthony Grant and Sam Foley.
Grant is said to have handed in a transfer request according to a journalist on Twitter while fellow midfielder Sam Foley is rumoured to be having a medical with Swindon Town.
Both players have substantial League One experience and Grant was named last season’s player of the year. With the majority of Vale’s squad not having any League One experience, the departure of two experienced players would alarm many Vale fans. However, at this point the rumours do remain unconfirmed and unsubstantiated.
When questioned about the players on Twitter, Smurthwaite responded with a number of tweets:
If appriopiate l will make a statement in the morning
