Five players to sign on Friday?
Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite has indicated that five players will agree terms with Port Vale on Friday.
Smurthwaite indicated that five players would sign. It was originally to be six but one transfer is in doubt. He also told one fan that none of the players would be English.
Smurthwaite tweeted:
1 player may be in doubt but 5 should sign and 1 Monday

He also denied any influence in the signings, adding the following:
Alot of the players have been scouted by Bruno and his team for last 2 years

However, there remained some doubt over the “compensation” due for the signing of striker Rigino Cicilia with the player’s former club saying the move was a free transfer:
True, he was at the end of his contract at us, so he should be a free signing for you guys!

Fans also pointed out that if a player aged under 24 moves to another country then compensation is not applied but Smurthwaite remained adamant that a fee had been agreed:
Compensation is due as stated
