Should Port Vale extend the season ticket early bird deadline?
OVF editor Rob Fielding thinks that in the light of a news blackout there is still one feelgood news item that the club could release.
Rob Fielding writes…
After all the drama of Rob Page’s slightly unexpected exit to Northampton Town, it’s all gone quiet on the Port Vale news front.
Surely it makes sense to extend the offer to allow time for a new man to be appointed and start his job?
Perhaps in light of Page’s departure, it’s not surprising. There are unlikely to be any news on players accepting or rejecting contracts until they know who the new manager is and the club are not going to speculate on the manager’s identity until all is in place. So, it’s gone deathly quiet with regards to news updates from the club.
However, perhaps there is one thing that they could release – and it may be something that creates a little of a feelgood factor while helping the club as well.
What is it?
Well, how about announcing an extension to the early bird (reduced) season ticket prices?
Rather than finishing in a matter of days at the end of May, an extension to the end of June would allow a new manager time to come in and start to build his squad. Hopefully his efforts may then just persuade a few more fans to commit to a season ticket so surely it makes sense to extend the offer to allow time for a new man to be appointed and start his job?
Note: I’d like to acknowledge that TheSage on the OVF forum originally proposed extending the early bird deadline and I have ran with his suggestion for this article.
