Rob Page denies Cardiff City approach
Port Vale manager Rob Page has denied that Cardiff City have made an approach to him regarding their vacant manager’s role.
The Sun newspaper reported over the weekend that Page was the Championship club’s preferred candidate to replace Russell Slade who has moved into a Director of Football role.
That was news to me when I came into the club and heard that. Cardiff City is my club so people will put two and two together but there is nothing in it…
Page works part-time as a coach for the Wales age-grade teams and helps in development of members of Chris Coleman’s senior Wales squad. Page is reportedly close to Paul Trollope, who is currently head coach with Cardiff and who also works part-time with the Welsh International squad..
However, according to the Welsh media, Cardiff sources are playing down the Page link and speaking after the defeat to Walsall, Page told the media: “That was news to me when I came into the club and heard that. Cardiff City is my club so people will put two and two together but there is nothing in it and I am fully focused on trying to pick up these Port Vale players and rebuild.”
