Page: no room for players to negotiate
Rob Page has warned his players that he has organised his playing budget “down to the penny” and there is no room to negotiate.
Vale have offered contracts to thirteen players including the likes of Michael O’Connor, AJ Leitch-Smith and captain Carl Dickinson.
At the moment no, because I have had to do it down to the penny. It has been difficult trying to keep hold of the good lads that we have got…
However, many offers are expected to involve pay cuts as the club works with a budget cut for next season.
Asked if there is a possibility of contract negotiations, Page told the media: “At the moment no, because I have had to do it down to the penny. It has been difficult trying to keep hold of the good lads that we have got.
“They have been fantastic for me all season. I have been really proud of how they have conducted themselves in difficult circumstances at times. I want to try the best I can to keep the boys together.”
