Match Report: Port Vale 4-1 Rochdale
Port Vale 4-1 Rochdale: the Valiants hit four goals against Rochdale as they recorded an excellent win at Vale Park.
The Valiants made several changes to their starting line-up with one being striker JJ Hooper partnering loan forward Theo Robinson upfront.
It was Robinson who gave Port Vale the lead with a great curving effort and midfielder Michael O’Connor made it two from the spot just before half-time.
JJ Hooper got a deserved third goal just after the half-time break and Michael O’Connor converted Port Vale’s second spot-kick of the game after central defender Remie Streete was fouled in the box.
Rochdale pulled one back from former Valiant Calvin Andrew but in an entertaining game, Vale could have added to their tally only to be denied by a fine display of Rochdale goalkeeping in the latter stages. There was even time for promising youth teamer Dan Turner to make his Port Vale debut in the closing moments.
It was a fine and comprehensive win with the whole Port Vale side putting in an excellent performance.
