About the fan…
“I’ve been a season ticket holder for sixteen years and a supporter for around 25…”
How are your team doing?
Our expectations like most promoted teams are to simply consolidate in our first season back at this level…
We are entering our best run of form at exactly the right time of season (eight league games unbeaten), our expectations like most promoted teams are to simply consolidate in our first season back at this level. So far we look set to achieve that aim and a couple more wins should do.
It’s been a odd season as our away form is far better than our home form. We’ve had some great away victories at higher division clubs in the cup and also at runaway leaders Burton but the fact that we’ve lost ten home games (and some of them to teams in the bottom six!) probably explains why we have been struggling to pull well clear of the bottom four for most of the season.
Where you think you will finish?
Anywhere above the bottom four, if we finish in the same position we are in now I’ll be delighted.
Who should we watch out for?
Our two wingers can be tricky on their day, Sullay Kaikai on loan from Crystal Palace and Shaun Whalley who have both been on great form recently.
What are your thoughts on your manager?
The right man for the job in my opinion but not everyone shares that view.
He wants to see football played the right way and holds genuine passion for the club, town and is very good at interacting with supporters. Before the Chelsea League Cup game last season he along with the players wheeled out a refreshments trolley for those queuing up for tickets!
What are your thoughts on your board?
We only have a two man board and that isn’t healthy in my opinion. We have a chairman who is a local man born and bred and a genuine supporter of the club but he appears to be a little stubborn in either seeking new investment or even just taking onboard opinions from elsewhere on how the club could be run. Recently we brought in a new CEO from St.Mirren and he has made a good start in his role, such as introducing half price tickets for the Coventry game to everyone who bought a ticket for the Man United FA Cup game.
Any views on the current Port Vale?
I don’t know too much about the current Port Vale team to be honest, I know Louis Dodds who has been at Vale for quite a while and who has scored some decent goals against us. Chris Neal played a blinder against Vale a few years ago, so much so that you decided to nab him off us!
A score prediction?
Our home form has finally started to improve recently so I’ll go for a 2-1 win for Salop with Mangan and Kaikai to score for us.
