Rob Page backs existing Vale forwards to have an “impact”

Rob Page says plans to bring in another player are on hold because he has “confidence” in Vale’s current forwards.

Louis Dodds and JJ Hooper both scored on Saturday in the absence of top-scorer AJ Leitch-Smith while Theo Robinson scored in the last home game – a 2-0 win over Colchester.

I have players like JJ who came off the bench and made a massive impact…

Page told the Sentinel: “We never say never, but it is not a priority of mine [to bring a new player in]. I have players like JJ who came off the bench and made a massive impact.

“But that is not taking anything away from what Theo did. Sometimes he won’t get the headlines because he didn’t get the goal, but some of the work he puts in and his effort and link play is brilliant. He is definitely a team player.

“We have JJ who has come on and had an impact so why bring somebody else into a group of lads that you have that confidence in?”
