Page praises Harbin for inspiring Port Vale’s spirited fightback
Manager Rob Page says that fitness coach John Harbin deserves credit for his part in inspiring Vale’s stirring comeback at Peterborough.
The Valiants looked dead and buried at half-time as they trailed 2-0 but three second-half goals including two in the last five minutes transformed the game into a Vale win.
We got off to the worst possible start, but credit has to go to the group of players and also John Harbin…
Page told the press that Harbin, who has worked for a number of Rugby League sides in the past showed the players a Rugby League clip to inspire them to keep trying till the final whistle.
Page told the media: “I have just said to them that I couldn’t be any more proud. We got off to the worst possible start, but credit has to go to the group of players and also John Harbin.
“We had a meeting yesterday and we showed a clip of a Rugby League game. That team were being beaten handsomely but in the dying minutes of the game they still put in an effort, never gave up and eventually got their rewards.
“This game has married hand in hand with what we showed them yesterday and that is credit to the players.
“They have got off to the worst possible start by gifting them a couple of goals but then showed character to come back into it and thoroughly deserved that win.”
