Port Vale loan out goalkeeper Chris Neal

Port Vale have loaned goalkeeper Chris Neal to League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Neal was injured during the summer and apart from a brief sub appearance, he has been unable to dislodge the impressive Jak Alnwick from the green jersey.

Neal joins Rovers on a month’s loan. He joins fellow keeper Sam Johnson (FC Halifax Town) in going on loan. Vale are well-stocked with goalkeepers and it means that the highly rated Ryan Boot will be Alnwick’s deputy while Neal is away.

Ironically, Neal could replace Thorsten┬áStuckmann who was injured during Vale’s game with Doncaster last week. The German is due to have an x-ray on his shoulder after suffering an awkward fall in the defeat.

Neal won promotion with Vale in 2013 and has twice been voted the┬áPort Vale’s players’ player of the season. He has made 133 appearances for the Valiants.
