Match Report: Port Vale 0-0 Fleetwood
Well, the good news was Vale kept a clean sheet but there was precious little else on offer as Vale were held to a dour draw by Fleetwood.
Manager Rob Page made one change with Ryan McGivern coming in for the injured Ryan Inniss while fit again Michael O’Connor and Chris Birchall made the bench.
However, it was a patchy start to the match with neither keeper called into action. The Valiants were restricted to an effort from Anthony Grant and a chance for Sam Foley after Theo Robinson’s effort was blocked and a late chance for captain Carl Dickinson as it finished goalless at the break.
In the second period, Vale were given two major wake-up calls when Sarcevic hit the crossbar and Grant forced Alnwick into a fine save.
Vale responded by bringing Hooper on for Robinson and there was a good chance for Foley which was wasted. Vale then had further chances for Kennedy who headed wide and Leitch-Smith who forced a save out of the keeper.
But chances were generally few and far between as the Vale were held to a disappointing home draw.
