Page praises “outstanding” veteran Brown
Rob Page reserved special praise for veteran midfielder Michael Brown after he starred in the 1-0 win over Bury.
Page told the press: “I thought he was outstanding. I think that is credit to him as a professional and a person.
I thought he was outstanding. I think that is credit to him as a professional and a person…
“I liken it to Ryan McGivern. He wasn’t involved in the early part of the season, not even on the bench. When called upon I know I have great professionals in that changing room who can go and give performances like that and he is another example.
“He is serious about this game. He is a fit lad and looks after himself, if he didn’t he would have got found out today.
“I warned him before Christmas because Granty was on nine bookings going into the Christmas period. So, I had a little chat with Browny and got John to have a conversation with him as well just to mark his card and say, ‘look after yourself, even though you are not in my 20-man squad over the Christmas period , at any time you are going to be called upon’.
“I think you have to treat senior pros with a little bit of respect. I could have had him in over Christmas but I know he is going to look after himself. He has done and has gone and given a performance like that for his team mates.”
