Captain Dickinson is second player to defend team from criticism
Captain Carl Dickinson has joined last season’s player of the year Michael O’Connor in defending the Vale team from criticism from fans.
Earlier this week, O’Connor said that Rob Page had done “a great job” and now Dickinson has also defended the team.
Just shut up and get behind the team really. There is no need. Why can’t everyone just come and enjoy it…
Dickinson told the Sentinel: “At the start of the season, if you’d asked any fan if we would have been four points off the play offs at Christmas, I think they would have shaken your hand.
“The lads are doing well and, to be honest, I don’t know where the negativity comes from sometimes. It is ridiculous. There are still a load of points to play for so it is a case of head down, keep working hard, keep trying to do the right things and making sure we go out to give good performances and trying to get three points on the board.”
“I honestly don’t know where it comes from, it is stupid, it is frightening. We are winning games. Fair enough we have lost a few but we are winning games and are up there, four points off the play offs. Just shut up and get behind the team really. There is no need.
“Why can’t everyone just come and enjoy it, enjoy cheering your team on and enjoy being part of what we are all trying to achieve, not just the players and staff but the fans as well. We are all in it together so you might as well enjoy the ride.
“Fair enough there are always going to be ups and downs but just enjoy it. At the end of the day it is football.”
