AJ ‘grateful’ to Page for getting his chance
In-form striker AJ Leitch-Smith says he is “grateful” that manager Rob Page has given him a chance at Port Vale.
After a poor scoring return for Yeovil last season, Leitch-Smith’s summer signing was greeted with dismay by a number of Vale fans but he has made them eat their words with six goals in seven games.
I am grateful for that and hopefully I can get a few more goals to repay his faith…
The striker told the Sentinel that: “The manager has looked after me, he has supported me and he has given me a chance. I am grateful for that and hopefully I can get a few more goals to repay his faith.
“He seems like a good manager from the time I have been here. I didn’t really know him beforehand personally, but we are still 12th and not far off the play-offs, so I think he’s doing a good job at the minute.”
Manager Page was criticised by some supporters for the signing of the former Crewe man and perhaps some supporters may want to revise their opinion of the manager’s summer signings.
The vast majority of Page’s summer signings have made an impact on the first-team this season and perhaps it’s a lesson for some fans to give the man in charge a chance and not leap to conclusions on his transfer business.
