Alnwick hopes to be fit for Blackpool game
Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has tweeted that he hopes to be fit for Vale’s Tuesday evening game against Blackpool.
Alnwick has been in fine form and has a 100% starting record since he signed for Vale in the summer but he was replaced by Chris Neal in the closing stages of the 3-2 win over Chesterfield.
Alnwick tweeted:
A very good win on an icy pitch. 5 unbeaten in a row now. Came off with bad back spasm but hopefully will be ok for Tuesday #pvfc

However, Vale do at least have plenty of goalkeeping cover Chris Neal has had a fine Vale career and would probably have started the season were it not for a bad injury in the summer. Neal’s injury probably encouraged Vale to sign Alnwick as quality cover – although the youngster has done well enough to now be considered the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Vale also have Sam Johnson and Ryan Boot as cover.
