Port Vale in talks with goalkeeper Jak Alnwick
Port Vale have revealed that they are in talks with goalkeeper Jak Alnwick over a new contract with the club.
Alnwick signed on a short-term deal in the summer but the ever-present keeper has been in impressive form and Vale will be keen to tie the 22 year-old to a long-term contract.
We are in discussion and are confident something will be done. So, hopefully by Thursday maybe we will have some more news on that…
Manager Rob Page told the Sentinel: “We are in discussion and are confident something will be done. So, hopefully by Thursday maybe we will have some more news on that.
“He’s been outstanding, he really has. I think what typified him was West Brom away when he wasn’t fazed at all. Having had those eight Premier League games has given him the experience to go to a stadium like that and not be fazed at all. I thought that was one of his best games. He has been a great addition to the squad.”
The Valiants are well-stocked in the goalkeeping department. Chris Neal is poised to return to training in the coming weeks while the club also has youngsters Sam Johnson and Ryan Boot in its ranks.
