Port Vale 2-1 Sheff Utd

Rob Match reports byron moore, sheff utd, uche ikpeazu

First-half goals from Byron Moore and Uche Ikpeazu gave Vale a home victory over Sheffield United.

Manager Rob Page made one change bringing back Uche Ikpeazu in place of AJ Leitch-Smith.

The Valiants then swept into a 17th minute lead when Byron Moore converted. Vale then doubled their lead on 45 minutes when Ikpeazu scored his second goal in two games on 45 minutes. Ikpeazu’s effort came back off the bar to beat Blades keeper Mark Howard.

After the break, keeper Jak Alnwick produced a superb save to deny Billy Sharp.

The Valiants looked to have secured a win and a clean-sheet but the Blades hit a last-gasp consolation in stoppage time although it will not dampen Vale’s spirits as they recorded an excellent three points.

Vale: Alnwick, Purkiss, Duffy, Streete, Dickinson, Grant, Foley, Moore, Andoh, Daniel (Leitch-Smith), Ikpeazu (Dodds)

Subs: Johnson, Birchall, McGivern, Brown, Hooper
