Port Vale 1-0 Carlisle Utd
Striker Uche Ikpeazu scored his third of the season as Vale scraped past Carlisle United in the JPT. Manager Rob Page made changes to his line-up with Remie Streete, Chris Birchall and Jak McCourt all coming into the starting eleven and JJ Hooper on the bench.
McCourt had an early chance as did Dodds but it was otherwise an uninspiring first period with the visitors comfortable and arguably the better side.
The second period also started poorly for Vale with Louis Dodds clearing off the line and Jak Alnwick alert to a poor backpass. However, out of nowhere, Uche Ikpeazu scored the opener and his third goal of the season on the hour mark. The visitors were not out of it as sub Ibehre had a shot cleared off the line.
Rob Page brought on JJ Hooper for his debut in the closing minutes as Carlisle had yet another effort cleared off the line. Nevertheless, Vale completed the job and moved into the next round.
