Two Bury fans from gigglane.com are excited by their team but wish their board would be more open with the supporters.
About the fans
SHAKERITE66 – I am an engineer in the Aerospace sector in Altham, Accrington. I have been a fan since 1971 and my first game was a 0-1 cup match versus Chelsea.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – I’ve spent 36 years watching. I started at four years old with my dad and grandad.
How do you expect your team to do this season?
Consolidation would be considered by many a success but this team will surprise a few along the way…
SHAKERITE66 – Consolidation would be considered by many a success but this team will surprise a few along the way. If we don’t challenge for a play-offs it will be because of injuries and suspensions as the squad is paper thin.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – Mid-table to play-offs.
Who should we watch out for?
SHAKERITE66 – Danny Mayor is the ace in our pack and was rightly voted by 23 out of 24 managers as the player of the season in League 2. He hasn’t really got into his stride this season as yet. At the back Nathan Cameron is as solid a centre back you will find outside the Championship. Popey needs no introduction to you lot.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – Danny Mayor on his day can be unplayable.
What are your thoughts on your manager?
SHAKERITE66 – His first full season in charge saw us promoted on the final day amid jubilant scenes at Tranmere, but amazingly he has some critics and a minority would see him out tomorrow if they had their way. 95% of us sane fans think the world of him. His signings have been hit and miss and his goalkeeper problems have resurfaced again lately. We have taken a no transfer fee paid but meaty wages option this season and we have started solidly so his signings are doing OK so far without being brilliant.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – A good young manager still learning his trade, he’s made a few decent additions.
What are your thoughts on your board?
Many if not all supporters would like them to be a bit more open and tell us how all of this is being funded…
SHAKERITE66 – Our board rescued the club from oblivion or so they would like us to believe. They have improved the whole club from top to bottom and continue to do a superb job but many if not all supporters would like them to be a bit more open and tell us how all of this is being funded. There have been mass rumours of huge debt and many of their off-field ventures have failed miserably but the cash keeps on coming in from somewhere?
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – A lot better off-field than previous boards and running the club more like a business.
How do you expect Vale to do this season?
SHAKERITE66 – I thought you would struggle if I’m honest but after losing Popey but you seemed to have recruited well with your two young centre backs and the loanee from Watford.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – Lower mid-table.
A score prediction?
3-0 to Bury. A Tom Pope hat-trick to show he’s worth his wages…
SHAKERITE66 – Sorry but we have hit form so a 2-0 home win is my prediction. Our home form is patchy but we have to sort it out sooner or later. Leon Clarke looks like he’s going to score every game so he’ll grab a brace.
HEAPBRIDGEWHITE – 3-0 to Bury. A Tom Pope hat-trick to show he’s worth his wages and for him to celebrate elaborately in front of masses of spitting angry Vale fans.
