Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has hinted for a second time that the club could still make one more signing.
OVF reported back in late July that Smurthwaite had hinted that there could be one further signing.
Replying to a tweet asking if there were any more “sweeties” in the jar (the term used for signings funded by Smurthwaite) the Vale owner replied:
Now., the Sentinel newspaper claims that Smurthwaite told them that “the sweetie jar could be opened” in a conversation during Vale’s reserve cup final game against Middlesbrough.
The newspaper adds that it is understood the player in question isn’t Paddy Kenny, who is training with the Valiants.
