Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased with his team’s performance after the 0-0 draw with Crewe.
Page told the media: “We knew we would come up against a Crewe team that want to keep the ball and use it well so we had to be disciplined in our defending. We created chance after chance, which I was really pleased with.
I feel it says a lot when their keeper gets man of the match…
“It was a little bit unjust really. I feel it says a lot when their keeper gets man of the match and we have created at least half a dozen chances which we feel on another day might go in.
“But I would have been more worried if we hadn’t created chances. From a personal point of view, I think we did both sides of the game better than them.
“Not only did we keep the ball better than them, I thought we did the other side, the not so nice side, better. That’s the work ethic and organisation of the boys.”
