Page takes positives from performances
Manager Rob Page says he will take the positives from Vale’s unbeaten start to the season.
He told the official Port Vale website: “We’ve come in and were disappointed with a point. We were up against a Gillingham team, we respected what they did on the opening day against Sheffield United, so we knew it was going to be a physical battle.
We could’ve got the ball wide quicker and earlier, but it’s a point, we move forward…
“We were confident outside of both boxes that we have the players to play well and out play them at times, which we did in the first half, which I am pleased with.
“Then they changed their formation in the second half and we struggled to adapt to it straight away.”
“We could’ve got the ball wide quicker and earlier, but it’s a point, we move forward.
“That’s three games now we’re unbeaten in and we’ll take the positives from it. But it says a lot about the lads, in a short space of time how far we’ve come to come in at home disappointed with a point.”
