Page could loan Campion out
Manager Rob Page says that striker Achille Campion could be allowed to go out on loan in order to get into first-team contention.
Campion has been used sparingly during the summer and the club clearly think that a loan spell could help to move him closer to first-team contention. It is a plan that worked for Jordan Hugill who came straight into the first-team after a prolific spell at Gateshead.
It might be a case of him going out and plying his trade at maybe a lesser level to deal with the physical demands of things and then coming back to benefit this club in a couple of months’ time…
Page told the Sentinel: “I have said I will judge him on this pre-season and that is what I am doing. But he is down the pecking order at the minute with the forwards we have got.
“I see him with a future at this club, but I have to help him develop as well. That is adapting him to the physical aspects of the game and going out and playing men’s football every week as opposed to reserve-team level. I think that will help him.
“I have had a good chat with him and it might be a case of him going out and plying his trade at maybe a lesser level to deal with the physical demands of things and then coming back to benefit this club in a couple of months’ time.
“It has to be right for all parties. It is all right us putting opportunities his way, but he has to be happy with it as well.
“We will have that conversation and hopefully can come up with a plan.”
