Bradford City 1-0 Port Vale
Port Vale were undone in the dying seconds as Bradford City snatched a late winner at Valley Parade.
Rob Page unsurprisingly named an unchanged starting eleven but new signing Jak McCourt replaced the injured Michael Brown on the bench.
Vale had a good start with Sam Foley having an early chance. The Valiants also felt that striker James Hanson could have been dismissed for use of an elbow but with Vale’s defence in charge, it finished goalless at half-time.
The home side came more into the game in the second period but without causing Vale’s backline too many concerns.
Page then rang the changes with Sam Kelly and Chris Birchall replacing Enoch Andoh and Byron Moore. But Vale were then grateful for a save from Alnwick from former Valiant Billy Knott.
And although Vale made few chances in the final third of the game and had to clear off the line in the closing moments, they looked to have held on until a defensive error gave Bradford a chance to take the lead in the 93rd minute. New Bantams signing Devante Cole made no mistake to score the winning goal with seconds remaining.
